I had six images shortlisted in the professional sports category in the Sony World Photography Awards for 2024. The images are all underwater images of artistic swimming taken at various national tournaments. One image is of the USAAS National Team taken at their practice facility on the UCLA campus.
Water ballet features ballet dancer Sofia Kelly who was brave enough to go underwater for this conceptual shoot. The image was a third place winner in the compact camera category for the Underwater Photographer of the Year contest (UPY).
“Headspace” was a runner up in the 2022 Underwater Photographer of the Year context. The image features my daughter Madi Rokop during a synchronized swimming practice in Davis, California.
“Water Dimension” once third place in the black and white category of the 2022 Underwater Photographer of the Year contest. The photograph features Issie Rowland during a synchronized swimming practice.
Underwater Photographer of the Year 2021-Highly Commended Finalist
This is a photo of the Davis Aquastarz synchronized swimming team taken at a practice. This photo was a finalist for the Underwater Photographer of the Year Award for 2021. It has also been featured in two galleries, The Crocker Museum and the Viewpoint Gallery in Sacramento, CA.
